Senior Ruby on Rails Developer – Remote / Hybrid – Europe-Based
We are actively hiring a Senior Ruby on Rails Developer to join one of our high-impact European clients in the digital product and SaaS space. You’ll be responsible for building secure, scalable applications and collaborating on system architecture and backend optimization.
This role is open to candidates based in the EU or holding valid EU work authorization. Contractors and full-time applicants are welcome. Remote-first with options for hybrid collaboration depending on the client’s location.
🔧 Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Ruby on Rails (5.x / 6.x / 7.x)
Architect robust, scalable APIs (REST/GraphQL) and business logic for web and mobile apps
Manage and optimize relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and ActiveRecord associations
Implement background job processing with tools such as Sidekiq or Resque
Collaborate with frontend engineers to ensure seamless API consumption and smooth UI integration
Write unit and integration tests using RSpec, Capybara, and similar tools
Ensure code quality and performance across staging and production environments
Participate in Agile ceremonies, code reviews, and continuous delivery processes
Document architectural decisions, workflows, and feature implementations
Monitor and debug production issues, proactively improving system reliability
📌 Required Profile:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
5+ years of professional experience in Ruby on Rails development
Strong grasp of MVC principles, service-oriented architecture, and Ruby conventions
Solid experience working with PostgreSQL, Redis, and background job processing
Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and version control using Git
Experience with Heroku, AWS, or similar cloud platforms is an advantage
Understanding of application security (authentication, authorization, rate-limiting)
Proficient in writing clean, testable, and maintainable code
Fluent in English (spoken and written); other EU languages are a bonus
Must be based in Europe or legally eligible to work in the EU
