Senior PHP Developer (Laravel/Symfony) – Remote / Hybrid – Europe-Based

We are seeking a Senior PHP Developer to support one of our leading European clients in the development of large-scale, content-driven, and eCommerce web applications. The ideal candidate brings deep backend expertise, clean architecture principles, and the ability to work with scalable, secure PHP frameworks.

This role is open to candidates within the EU or those holding a valid European work permit. Contractors and full-time applicants are both welcome. Remote-first with hybrid options depending on the client location.

🔧 Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end systems using modern PHP frameworks (Laravel, Symfony)

• Create and consume RESTful APIs and ensure third-party service integration

• Work with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL) and ORM layers (Eloquent, Doctrine)

• Build and maintain secure, scalable backend infrastructure supporting high-traffic applications

• Implement clean code, reusable components, and SOLID design principles

• Participate in API design, deployment automation, and CI/CD pipeline integration

• Collaborate with frontend developers and DevOps engineers in agile sprints

• Conduct code reviews, write automated tests (PHPUnit, Pest), and maintain documentation

• Debug performance issues and resolve production-level bugs efficiently

• Work closely with QA, UX, and product teams to deliver business-critical features
  
  

📌 Required Profile:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in PHP development

• Deep knowledge of either Laravel, Symfony, or both

• Proficiency in designing REST APIs, working with authentication (OAuth2/JWT)

• Strong experience with MySQL/PostgreSQL, database optimization, and query profiling

• Understanding of caching strategies (Redis, Memcached), CI/CD tools, and Git workflows

• Familiarity with containerization using Docker and basic cloud deployment (AWS, DigitalOcean, etc.)

• Solid understanding of testing practices (unit, integration, functional)

• Fluent in English; additional European languages are appreciated

• Must be based in the EU or hold valid EU work authorization
